Frequently asked questions
How does app blocking work?
Salati uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) to lock the apps you choose during your prayer windows. You grant permission once during setup. Blocking only happens in the windows you set, and your apps unlock automatically when each window ends.
Why do I need to allow Screen Time access?
Apple requires your explicit permission before any app can block others. Salati never sees how you use your apps — only which ones you've chosen to block during prayer. If you decline, prayer times and reminders still work, but app blocking will be off.
Are my prayer times accurate?
Prayer times are calculated from your device's location. You can choose your calculation method and madhab in Settings to match your local mosque. If location is unavailable, Salati uses a sensible fallback.
How do I set up a Quran reading session?
In Settings → Quran, enable a scheduled reading session, choose the days and time, and select a duration. When the session starts, your chosen apps lock and Salati opens the Quran where you last left off.
What does Premium include?
Premium unlocks unlimited blocked apps, custom window lengths, strict mode (no bypass until you've prayed or read), and longer Quran sessions. Plans are weekly, monthly, or annual, with a free trial.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID. To manage or cancel, open the iOS Settings app → tap your name → Subscriptions → Salati. You can also tap "Restore purchases" in the app's Premium screen to recover a subscription on a new device.
Blocking isn't working — what should I check?
Open Settings → App Blocking → Blocking status. It shows whether Screen Time is authorized, whether apps are selected, and whether a window is active. Make sure Screen Time access is allowed and at least one app is selected. If you recently reinstalled, you may need to re-grant Screen Time access.
